Where to Stay in Danang
Your guide to the best areas and accommodation types
Da Nang splits into three zones. The beach strip runs south from My Khe through Non Nuoc. The Han River city core holds the Dragon Bridge, which breathes fire on weekends. Son Tra Peninsula rises forested above both. Most visitors sleep on the beach. The city center suits business travel and day-trip logistics.
Mid-range hotels crowd the beachfront. Budget hostels cluster in A Thuong, two blocks from the sand. Son Tra holds the top luxury tier, accessible only by mountain road.

The central stretch of Da Nang's long shoreline hums with surf and sizzling seafood grills along Vo Nguyen Giap. Hotels rise shoulder to shoulder on the beachfront, most offering direct sand access and rooftop pools that gleam in the afternoon heat. The water turns clear jade-green in the dry months. The pale sand stays wide and clean. The cool evening breeze pulls locals and visitors onto the promenade after sundown.
- ✓ Direct beach access from most hotels on the strip
- ✓ Widest selection of Da Nang properties at every price point
- ✓ Restaurants, bars, and beach clubs all within walking distance
- ✓ Flat promenade easy to navigate by foot or hired bicycle
- ✗ Motorbike and taxi traffic on Vo Nguyen Giap runs well past midnight

Two blocks behind My Khe's beachfront hotels, A Thuong is Da Nang's expat quarter. Quiet lanes wind past independent cafes where the smell of Vietnamese drip coffee hangs in the humid air. Restaurants send wood-fired smoke and the tang of fermented fish sauce into the street. Guesthouses here charge notably less than the beachfront strip. The sand stays a three-minute walk away.
- ✓ Three-minute walk to My Khe Beach without paying beachfront rates
- ✓ Best density of independent restaurants and cafes in Da Nang
- ✓ Noticeably quieter streets away from the Vo Nguyen Giap traffic noise
- ✓ Local supermarkets and pharmacies on every block
- ✗ No sea views from most properties, a direct trade-off for the lower rates
- ✗ Several side lanes flood quickly in October and November downpours

Da Nang's commercial core lines both banks of the Han River. The Dragon Bridge glows neon and breathes actual fire on Friday and Saturday nights. Grilled meats drift from Han Market's stalls. High-rise hotels occupy the western riverbank. The eastern shore is quieter and more residential. The train station, central bus terminal, and Museum of Cham Sculpture are all reachable on foot.
- ✓ Central access to the train station, bus terminal, and airport road
- ✓ Dragon Bridge fire show visible from riverside hotel terraces on weekend nights
- ✓ Widest range of local Vietnamese restaurants at local prices
- ✓ Easy connections by taxi or bus to every Da Nang neighborhood
- ✗ Twenty-minute ride to My Khe Beach rather than a walk
- ✗ Han Market intersection generates traffic noise in lower-floor hotel rooms

The forested mountain north of Da Nang rises steeply from sea level. Its canopy is dense enough that red-shanked douc langurs call through the treetops at dawn. The air is cooler and heavy with the green scent of tropical forest. At dusk, mist settles over the higher ridges. A handful of high-end resorts are tucked into forested coves connected to the city by a twenty-minute mountain drive. Lady Buddha at Linh Ung Pagoda stands on the south face, visible from much of Da Nang.
- ✓ Forested seclusion with private beach access at the top resorts
- ✓ Consistently cooler and less humid than the Da Nang beach strip
- ✓ Wild douc langurs visible near the road at dawn. One of the most accessible spots in Vietnam to see them.
- ✓ Lady Buddha pagoda reachable by motorbike from any resort on the peninsula
- ✗ Every restaurant, shop, and attraction beyond resort grounds requires a taxi or motorbike.
- ✗ The winding mountain road makes late-night returns from the city below uncomfortable.

Five limestone karsts rise abruptly from the flat ground of Ngu Hanh Son district in southern Da Nang. Their caves are cool and dripping with the sound of water and the steady smell of sandalwood incense from Buddhist shrines within. Stone-carving workshops fill the surrounding streets with the click and grind of chisel on marble. Hoi An is a short drive south. This makes the area the natural base for anyone splitting a trip between the two cities.
- ✓ Walk to the Marble Mountains entrance without a taxi or commute
- ✓ Quieter, more residential atmosphere than the northern beach strip
- ✓ Midpoint location between Da Nang city center and Hoi An ancient town
- ✓ Slightly lower hotel rates than comparable My Khe properties
- ✗ Non Nuoc Beach requires a short drive through heavy motorbike traffic
- ✗ Dinner options within walking distance are limited. Most guests eat at their resort.

Non Nuoc occupies the southern curve. It feels emptier, slower than My Khe. Fewer umbrellas, longer pale sand, resort gardens touching dunes. Air carries faint mineral dust from stone-carving workshops. Sea noise replaces traffic. Hoi An is a comfortable drive south.
- ✓ Noticeably less crowded than My Khe even at peak season
- ✓ Large resort grounds with private beach sections that stay uncrowded
- ✓ Reasonable taxi distance to both Da Nang city and Hoi An
- ✓ Lower ambient noise than the My Khe central strip
- ✗ No walkable restaurants or shops outside resort perimeters
- ✗ A taxi or motorbike is necessary for every excursion off the resort grounds

South of A Thuong, this mid-section offers quiet. Pale sand, clear water, same as My Khe. Hotel density drops, Vo Nguyen Giap traffic softens. Famous international brands line this stretch. Sea-facing lobbies pull in the salt smell.
- ✓ Same beach quality as My Khe central with marginally fewer crowds
- ✓ Strong international brand options with reliable service standards
- ✓ Easy walk north to A Thuong's restaurant and cafe scene
- ✓ The beachfront promenade here stays quieter after 10pm
- ✗ Fewer budget and guesthouse options compared to A Thuong
- ✗ Taxi rather than walk required to reach the Han River and Dragon Bridge

Hai Chau beats as Da Nang's commercial heart. It sits south of Han River bridge, west of the beach. Pink towers of Da Nang Cathedral rise above market streets. Charcoal smoke drifts from food carts before dawn. Local hotels serve domestic travelers. Rates stay low. Best breakfast spots are steps away. Han River and Dragon Bridge are ten minutes north.
- ✓ Lowest hotel rates in Da Nang outside the far-western residential districts
- ✓ Street food is everywhere. Early pho stalls open beside guesthouses.
- ✓ Walking distance to Da Nang Cathedral, Han Market, and the Han River promenade
- ✓ Frequent local buses connect to the beach strip and train station
- ✗ English menus and English-speaking staff are rare at local guesthouses
- ✗ The beach requires a taxi or twenty-minute walk east

Twenty-five kilometers west, Hoa Vang hills climb through cloud. Ba Na Hills resort perches near 1,500 meters. Air turns crisp, pine-scented. Temperature drops ten degrees from the coast. Moss-covered French colonial ruins share the ridge with an entertainment complex. Stay near the cable car base for early access. Forested slopes feel remote. Yet the drive is short.
- ✓ Arrive at the cable car before tourist coaches from Da Nang city center
- ✓ Cool, pine-scented mountain air in sharp contrast to the humid coast
- ✓ Forested valley setting where birdsong replaces traffic noise entirely
- ✗ Very few dining or shopping options outside the Ba Na Hills resort complex
- ✗ Beyond the resort, only cars or motorbikes tackle the winding mountain roads.

Booking Tips
Insider advice to help you find the best accommodation.
Beachfront hotels on My Khe sell out six to eight weeks ahead for peak summer. Weekday slots open later than weekends. Mid-range rooms still vanish three to four weeks ahead.
Da Nang's rainy season peaks in October and November. Heavy daily downpours hit. Typhoons can close the coast. Rates drop 40 to 60 percent. The beach turns useless. Marble Mountains, Ba Na Hills, and Hoi A stay open inland.
Da Nang International Fireworks Festival lights up late June and early July across several weekends. Every neighborhood packs tight. Even quiet Hai Chau guesthouses fill. Book eight to ten weeks ahead if your dates match.
The InterContinental and Premier Village on Son Tra Peninsula stay full year-round. They sell out faster than My Khe luxury peers. Lock in six to ten weeks ahead.
When to Book
Timing matters for both price and availability.
Reserve beachfront My Khe and Son Tra Peninsula spots six to eight weeks ahead for June through August. Dragon Bridge fire shows spike demand for Han River hotels year-round.
February through May gives dry skies and easy rooms. Two to three weeks ahead covers most Da Nang stays.
October through January brings deep discounts and last-minute space everywhere except Da Nang International Fireworks Festival weekends in late June and early July.
Four weeks ahead handles almost everything in Da Nang. Son Tra luxury resorts and Fireworks Festival dates need eight weeks or more.
